11 Scholarships for Sophomores

There are a number of scholarships for sophomores on offer. Here are the details of some of 11 such opportunities.

1) NetAid Global Action Scholarships: This scholarship is awarded to students in the US who are willing to build a brighter future for the poorest people in the world. Four scholarships of $5,000 each are on offer.

2) Toyota Community Scholars Award: This scholarship is offered to you if you have been nominated by your school. Your school should have a good record of academic success. Many scholarships worth $20,000 each are available.

3) AXA Achievement Community Scholarships: You can win this scholarship if you are a high school student who has high ambition and drive, determination to achieve your goals, the required ability for succeeding in college, and respect for self, family and community. 350 $2,000 scholarships are provided.

4) National Vocabulary Competition: This scholarship is for high school students who are 13 to 19 years of age. You will need to attempt the National Qualifying Exam. 50 finalists take part in the championship finals. The amount awarded is $40,000.

5) The Fountainhead Essay Contest: You can win this scholarship by taking part in an essay contest on the novel Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.  236 $10,000 scholarships are available.

6) Annual Poster Contest for High School Students: This scholarship is for high school students grades 9 through 12.  Many awards worth $100 to $1000 are available.

7) Outstanding Students of America Scholarships: You can win this scholarship if you have a minimum GPA of 3.00 and demonstrate excellent commitment to serving your community. Several $1000 scholarships are on offer.

8) Siemens Westinghouse Competition: This scholarship is available for all high school students taking part in the team contest and for only seniors taking part in the individual contest.  Many scholarships worth $1000 to $100000 are available.

9) Eco-Hero Award: You can win this scholarship if you prove that you are aware about the environment. You must work on a project that shows concern for the environment.

10) The American and Pacific Islander Scholarship Fund (APIASF Scholarship): This scholarship is provided to Asian or Pacific Islander students who are getting enrolled in a four- or two-year college or university for full-time studies. Several awards worth $2000 are on offer.

11) National Peace Essay Contest: This scholarship is offered to high school students in grades 9 through 12 who are attending a public, private or parochial school. Many awards ranging from $1000 to $10000 are available.
